The Alamo San Antonio is also known as The Alamo Mission. It was founded in the 18th century and was originally known as Misión San Antonio de Valero. The Roman Catholic mission is now part of the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site.

The site is well known for its historical significance as the Battle of the Alamo was fought here in 1836. The mission traces its history back to the 18th century when the Spanish government established it.

Initially the mission complex was used for religious purposes, including the conversion of area locals. It was later also used for military purposes. Its role in the Battle of the Alamo is historically significant.

The complex has also been used for mercantile purposes such as for running a wholesale grocery business.
